The famous Parmigiano Reggiano is the original parmesan cheese. This particular one is made in the provinces of Parma and Reggio Emilia and aged for 14 months before shipping. The hard and crumbly nature of the cheese produces not only the most intense flavour but also the lowest fat content of any DOP cheese. Break into chunks and eat with fresh pears, as part of a cheese platter or use in cooking for the best flavour. To pair with wine it is best with a rich dessert wine like a Vin Santo or aged Marsala, if thats not your cup then use a big rich red like an Amarone or Barolo |
